Lazy in Tropea

We spent a lazy day in Tropea, chilling at the beach with a cabana boy that got the attention of the ladies.  It was a good day of doing virturally nothing.  I finally started the book I've been wanting to read, Alexander Hamilton: A Life, just a couple chapters in and I'm hooked.  Here's a cool cave near where we rented our chairs and umbrella (and parking, 10 Euro total).

The cave is in the bottom left of this picture.

Tropea is in the Tyrrhenian sea, so that's the second one swimming in so far on this trip, including the Mediterranean Sea.  Expecting to hit the Adriatic and Ionian Seas in the next few days.

Gotta love the GoPro.

Anyway, we had hoped to go to Capo Vaticano at sunset to view the regular Stromboli eruptions, however the wind was howling off of Africa bringing haze and a poor horizon so we opted for a day trip there to check out the view.

We had espressos at the bar with this view, you can see the haze and whitecaps, it was windy.

We did get a couple cool photos of Tropea, it is a great little seaside town.

Earlier when we were at the beach there was a guy fishing from shore, naturally I wanted to know what he was fishing for.  His answer, Orata (Sea Bream).  Later that evening we went to a place right on the above cliff edge and you guessed it, I had the Orata for my secondi piatti.  First course, however, was the pasta with the local peppers and it was awesome: Fileja 'Nduja

Then the orata, which was absolutely delicious:

Goodnight all.
